Six Nations Tourism Presents Movie Monday: Mohawk Girls

Six Nations Tourism is pleased to present “Mohawk Girls”, a feature-length documentary from filmmaker Tracey Deer, as the June selection for Movie Monday.

Shot over two years, “Mohawk Girls” provides a surprising inside look at modern Indigenous youth culture. Deeply emotional yet sentimental, it reveals the hope, despair, heartache and promise of growing up Indigenous at the beginning of the 21st century. This film inspired the hit APTN TV show of the same name.

Admission is by donation, and refreshments and popcorn will be provided. Don’t forget to bring your refillable water bottle, or purchase your very own from Six Nations Tourism.

Movie Summary
Mohawk Girls is a feature-length documentary about three teenage-girls growing up in the Kahnawake Mohawk community, outside of Montreal. Shot over two years, Mohawk filmmaker Tracey Deer, takes viewers into the lives of these girls and offers a surprising inside look at Native youth culture in the 21st century.  

Showing will be at the Gathering Place by the Grand, with doors opening at 6:30PM. Arrive early to get the best seat.
